The government of Tamil Nadu has decided to help students in the uncertain times caused by the Covid-19 pandemic by announcing the launch of data cards with 2 GB internet to help school students in the state cope with their studies.

The state has taken this decision to assist students in seeking online education, as all educational institutes have been conducting online classes for the academic session 2020-21 due to the current Covid-19 pandemic situation.

As per this new venture launched by the Tamil Nadu government, the students of government schools, government-aided schools and government polytechnic students will be able to seek assistance for online classes with this data card.
The government of Tamil Nadu has also said that nearly 9,69,047 students in the state will benefit from this announcement, as a lot of students were having problems attending online classes during the lockdown due to the lack of resources.

Schools reopening in Tamil Nadu
The schools in Tamil Nadu have been closed since March 2020 due to the rapid spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in India. Since then, all school operations and classes are being conducted online for the benefit of the students.

Recently, the state government was seeking feedback from parents, teachers, and students regarding the reopening of schools, and as per media reports, nearly 80 percent of the people agreed that the schools should be reopened for higher classes.

The state government had also recently announced that the board exams for classes 10 and 12 will be conducted, and won’t be cancelled. This decision was announced after CBSE had released the date sheet for the class 10 and 12 board exams.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed the schools across the country to reopen but the final decision has been left up to the respective state government. Many states have decided to reopen the schools from January 2021.
